Nestled in the charming village of South Cadbury, the Chapel Cross Tearoom offers a delightful escape for travelers and locals alike. Housed in a beautifully converted chapel, this quaint café combines rustic decor with a warm, inviting atmosphere that radiates charm from every corner.

The moment you step inside, you’re greeted with the heartwarming scent of freshly brewed tea and the tantalizing aroma of homemade dishes. Customers rave about the exceptional soup of the day, with tomato being a particular favorite—described as ‘the best tomato soup’ many have ever tasted. Served alongside delightful, crusty bread, it’s a dish that not only warms the body but touches the soul.

But soup isn’t the only highlight; the menu boasts an array of sumptuous homemade cakes, including a much-praised Bakewell tart that has sung its sweet siren call to many visitors. Each bite delivers a melt-in-your-mouth experience, making it clear why patrons are eager to return. As one customer aptly noted, the tearoom is laden with ‘light, fluffy, homemade cakes’ that will soon become the stuff of sweet dreams.

Adding to the tearoom’s unique allure are quirky touches like musical instruments hanging on the walls, inviting guests to create their own live melodies while sipping on expertly crafted coffees. It’s this personal touch, along with the community-oriented vibe, that makes each visit special. As a customer beautifully articulated, “True homemade hospitality” awaits you, ensuring that every cup of tea is served with a smile and a friendly chat.

Beyond the delightful offerings, the setting itself is a character. The café is adorned with charming décor that reflects its past, creating a cozy spot for anyone needing a break from life’s hustle and bustle—especially those finding respite from travels on the A303. Whether you're a weary traveler, a local cyclist, or a peaceful wanderer, the warmth of the Chapel Cross Tearoom invites you to relax, unwind, and savor.

If you’re in the Yeovil area, make sure to carve out some time to visit this little gem; once you do, you’ll understand why it has struck a chord with many who have stepped through its doors.

A lovely little tea room with beautiful rustic decor. I had the Soup of the Day, which was tomato on this occasion- and quite possibly the best tomato soup I've ever had! Very tasty bread to accompany it too! Worth stopping by if you're in the area.

Wonderful homemade cakes and tasty soups. Tea and coffee all served with a friendly smile. Very pretty, petite little converted Chapel with musical instruments hung up on the walls for making your own live music, if you want, or just relax and read the local papers. Just off the 303 at North Cadbury.

Very unique. In an old Chapel. Community orientated. Good for locals, cyclists, walkers, breaking up travel on A303, animal friendly. Really interesting venue and proprietor. Papers, books even instruments! Good tea and coffee. Also homemade soups and cakes.

A difficult find, but what a wonderful experience, light, fluffy, homemade cakes, tarts and proper coffees + chewing the fat with Queen of the day Rose, & do ask for a cheese tasting, she makes fabulous tasty goats cheeses in her spare time. Well worth a visit.

Charming little gem with completely awesome Bakewell tart, very chilled out. Loved it. We love finding lovely tea rooms and the service was amazing. There are lots of kwerky touches and we were delighted to come across somewhere so great close to home - suspect we will become regulars.

Honestly places like this absolutely make my holiday. Coffee van, fabulous lady called Rose making delicious coffee with home made cakes, seating available, chatting with the locals. 1 min from the A303 why would you ever want to visit the 'services' ever again??

True homemade hospitality. Delicious soup with focaccia, great range of freshly baked cakes, brownies and biscuits and a freshly brewed pot of tea. So enjoyable and worth popping into.
